Nearly a year after its acquisition of restaurant review and ratings service Zagat Survey, Google has announced it is buying travel guidebook brand Frommer's. The deal will see Frommer’s 55 year old database of hotels and international attractions merged with Google’s various search platforms, including maps, local listings and mobile applications. As the number one search company ramps up its bid to become the leading destination for online travel planning, an increasing number of travel and ratings companies are under threat.
