Experts have cast a critical eye over a recently published Distribution Channel Analysis study produced by the American Hotel & Lodging Association and STR. The 214 page report is the most extensive examination to date of the use of distribution channels within the hotel industry and is based on data from more than 25,000 hotels and interviews with hundreds of industry insiders.
Although distribution experts have praised the authors’ in-depth analysis of information, some have disputed the conclusions presented in the report, pointing to outdated data and an exaggerated emphasis on the importance of third party companies such as Apple, Google and Facebook as distribution channels.
